I was out for a run this week and hit a stretch of road that is long, straight, and uphill.
As I was climbing the hill, I noticed that my focused changed. When I started the run, I was looking up so I could see the top of the road, or the end point. As I continued on, I realized that I was looking down and watching the road as is passed by.
Got me thinking about any project or task that I need to work on. To be successful, I need to have a vision of the end point first, then put my head down and go to work.
The vision or end point can be the completion of a project or a place you want to be in your life. It is important to have these places you want to be defined. Exercises like creating a vision board, or defining your future self, 1 year, 3 year even 5 years ahead are critical. If you don’t have anywhere to go, you will not go anywhere. Start there, dream big, and visualize the top of the road.
Then, put your head down and go to work.
